Firstly, where do you work and what is your role?
I am a partner at Eversheds specialising in employment law.
Why did you choose a career in law?
I like a good argument.
What attracted you to your particular specialism?
Employment law is very fast moving, varied and involves at of interaction with people.
What is the most enjoyable part of your job?
A good win in the employment tribunal.
What particular challenges are you or have you faced in these tougher times?
There is a lot of competition in the market place and clients have had to tighten their belts so you have to be more innovative in providing solutions.
What do you think will be growth opportunities for the legal profession over the next couple of years?
Budgets are increasingly tight so law firms will have to think more imaginatively about how to service clients’ needs. However, client’s are still willing to pay for top quality strategic advice.
What’s been your most enjoyable or high profile recent piece of work?
Most of my high profile work is highly confidential so, unfortunately, if I told you I would have to shoot you !
What inspires you when it comes to your work?
My clients and my colleagues but on a bad day a trip to Kendalls always helps.
Do you work by a particular mantra or motto in your business life?
Treat others as you would wish to be treated.
Can you give one piece of professional advice to your peers?
Don’t get to comfortable in a particular role, always seek new challenges.
