How do you like to start the day?

With a cup of Mint Tea then a short walk with my dogs – that’s how I like to start the day. More often than not, I stroke the dogs and take the tea with me in the car….

What’s your favourite object in your office/home office?

My fish tank – it has not been an unmitigated success but the fish that have remained through lockdown are beautiful.

Who is your closest colleague?

My EA Lisa – she is physically closest and has been literally by my side for the last five years.

Do you have a favourite family heirloom?

A collection of cigarette cards showing pictures of the Inns of Court (collected by my grandfather who never smoked in his life).

What’s your favourite song of all time?

Pure Shores by All Saints.

What’s your favourite play?

Hamilton The Musical.

Who’s your favourite movie star?

Katherine Hepburn.

What’s your favourite book?

Emma by Jane Austen.

What book are you reading right now?

Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine by Gail Honeyman.

What book do you wish you had written?

Tess of the D’Ubervilles by Thomas Hardy – I would have changed what happened to Tess.

What’s the greatest invention of all time?

The pocket!

Is there a sport you wish you could play?

Any sport that involves hand-eye-ball coordination – I have none!

Who inspires you in business?

In family law, Baroness Shackleton – she was an inspirational boss to have when I was an associate solicitor. In business – any successful business has a leader from whom you can take inspiration.

In the office do you dress up, dress down or somewhere in between?

I often wear jeans but always wear make-up. On balance, I tend to dress up more than dress down. My dress down at home is very dress down….

Where do you go to relax?

Swanage – amazing coastal walks and beaches.

What country have you always wanted to visit?

India and Nepal to walk the Annapurna range and visit the Taj Mahal.

Besides your phone, what do you always have with you?

Dog treats.

What’s the best part of your job?

Managing a fantastic team of experts – we have 82 people in the firm and they all have an energy that makes it a real joy to come to work.

How do you unwind after work?

Walking around Swanage.

Finally, what’s your guilty pleasure?

“Great British” anything – Bake off/Sewing Bee/Jewellery/Pottery/Portrait Artists.
