Why move to Manchester?
Why move to Manchester?
If you have thought before about relocating to seek the legal job of your dreams, then look no further than a legal job in Manchester. Manchester is not only a major city on the legal scene in the UK, it is a fantastic place to live. With a diverse community, a thriving culture and eclectic mix of old and new, it offers everything the capital can and more.
Manchester not only has deep tradition and architecture, but new innovative and futuristic developments such as the Beetham Tower and Spinningfields complex which homes some of the largest law firms in the North including Pinsent Masons, Shoosmiths, DAC Beachcroft and DWF. Fashion and shopping is at the heart of the city. Museums, galleries and theatres are world class. It has two Premiership Football Clubs and a cosmopolitan music scene, with bands such as Oasis proudly emerging from the city and the famous Hacienda once hosting a thriving dance scene. Not only that, if you want to escape to the country the beautiful Lake District is only a short drive away.
So what about the legal community? Across the board from the top tier, to mid tier, smaller and niche/boutique practices, Manchester can offer a diverse range of law firms and excellent quality work. Although heavyweight top tier firms Eversheds, DLA Piper, Addleshaw Goddard and Pinsent Masons continuing to thrive in the city, growth in the market in insurance means they are now being challenged by firms such as Clyde & Co, DAC Beachcroft, DWF, Weightmans, Hill Dickinson and Kennedys. National firms without a historic base in Manchester are now also emerging, with firms such as Shoosmiths, Browne Jacobson and Gateley quietly growing their presence here.
Despite a deep financial crisis, there are enough signs in the last year that the Manchester market place is tough enough to not only survive, but grow and prosper. Value for money is more important than ever, and with a lower cost base than London, firms are increasingly moving their work to Manchester. With the quality of work being as good as in the capital, but quality of life being undoubtedly better, why delay?
