What do you think will happen to the housing market in 2021?

Nationwide predicts that UK house prices will continue to rise this year, beyond the stamp duty extension. I am sure this is daunting for many people, certainly for first time buyers who have to save more and more to get on the ladder. Even with the SDLT deadline approaching, things do not seem to be slowing down, perhaps it’s due to the demand in the type of house people are after, if it’s more space, a garden or the all-important out house. But what does this mean for the people who work in the industry?

Working with candidates in the conveyancing market, people seem to be cautious about making a move, understandably as they want to see what happens once things calm down and there is the growing concern of job security. But, with Nationwide predictions and no sign of things slowing down, I guess the question is should you wait? If you really are not happy in your current role, why not strike whilst the iron is hot. If not and you do wait, along with the rest of the conveyancing market, you might just find that the competition is much more competitive and you might miss out on the best opportunities.

I think that there are some important factors to consider of course before making a move, for example are you ready? And ask yourself, what do you think is going to happen to the market, do you think it will come to a considerable halt or just slow down a little? Rest assured, the firms that I am working with have no intention of investing thousands in training and development to then let someone go... All of the roles that I am working on at present are permanent and my client's primary focus is finding people who want to forge a long term career with them.
