The new year can be quite a common time for people to look to make a move, having had time to reflect on their current situation over Christmas. This year has been no different save that it has also been met by an increasing demand from law firms looking to recruit at the end of their financial year.
Over the past 6 months there has also been a clear emergence of a very sector focussed approach by most firms and a real appetite around Information Technology and Telecoms.
It is far from a revelation to say that the world is firmly reliant on technology of all kinds and the resulting infrastructure that is required is only set to develop and grow. It is no surprise then that law firms a keenly pushing this specialist area within their commercial teams.
It is not quite the niche area that it may seem and still provides a fantastic platform for general commercial and routes into in-house but is proving a very interesting and enjoyable role within private practice.
As an emerging practice area into the regions there is also a shortage of quality people but a clear demand for them. At the NQ level it can prove a fertile area to look to qualify into and at the mid to senior level firms are crying out for really strong experience.
