Property Boom

2015 is proving to be another promising and strong year for Real Estate solicitors. On the back of a strong demand for Real Estate lawyers on 2014 we have continued to see, an increasing number of instructions from clients in the first half of 2015, who are looking for property solicitors and conveyancing executives for permanent or temporary hires.

In 2014 the strongest demand was coming from high street practices across the country and this has continued into 2015. These firms are looking for experienced residential property solicitors and executives, to strengthen their teams and deal with the increase in instructions. The usual demand for locums to cover periods of holiday in the smaller high street practices is continuing and in-fact some firms are struggling to get the cover that they need. We have seen the career locums taking bookings up to six months in advance.

Commercial firms are also looking to strengthen their Real Estate teams and it appears that most are looking to hire associates at the 1-3 PQE mark. On the interim side we have seen instructions coming in for mid to senior level hires of experienced Real Estate solicitors who are able to commit to periods of up to six months to provide an extra and capable pair of hands.

In the City we have seen an increase in the number of instructions coming through from US and top 50 firms, who are seeking experienced real estate lawyers on a temporary or fixed term basis to deal with an increase in work, in particular on the development and real estate finance side.

As a result of this continued demand, candidates are getting increasingly harder to source and professional career locums are getting booked up well in advance for the rest of the year. The market is much brighter and recovery is well under way. We appear to be back in the boom times.
