May-hem for job seekers across the UK
Jobseekers in and around London showed more intent of finding new jobs in May than in any other period over the last 12 months, according to the latest report from online job board CV-Library.
Not only was the number of jobs available in the capital up by 17% from April, the number of applications made from professionals looking for a new opportunity also rose by nearly 14% in May.
The competition for roles is also increasing, with the average number of applications per role rising to over 28.
The number of CVs registered by leading legal recruitment business BCL Legal rose to almost 1200 in May compared to 1000 in January and 998 in February. Director Vicky Clark stated “we are very busy, new opportunities are springing up every day and legal professionals are seeking out the best roles”.
Highlighting London’s significance in the job market, an additional report from accountancy firm UHY Hacker Young has named London as the hottest neighbourhood for start-up companies, with all but three of the UK’s top 20 areas for business creation located within the capital.
