Making a move in the post-COVID climate... What should you be considering?

In this very strange and continuously changing landscape, thinking about moving jobs can be a tricky and downright daunting prospect,

...hence I thought it might be helpful to consolidate some ideas to have a think about if you're currently considering a move.

Consider:

• Is this thought something that has come off the back of a situation that you’re reacting to? If so, take some time to mull it over. It’s never a good idea to rush into a decision whilst your emotions are heightened.

• Pros VS Cons: make a list of what the benefits are of moving and the consequences. Writing things down help us to see the positives and negatives a decision is going to make.

• Make as list of what you deem important to you. Is it title, money, flexibility, culture, stability, reputation of you current firm vs others in the market.

• After you’ve taken some time to think about the above points it’s also really important to consider your happiness, are you happy in your current role? Will you be happier elsewhere? Financials are important, but being happy in a role; enjoying what you do, and looking after your own wellbeing is what comes out on top and is often the reason many firms retain staff so well.

Now more than ever we’re seeing more and more candidates feeling uneasy about making a move.

It’s understandable given the past 12-18 months during the pandemic - it's undeniable that there has been a lot of instability in the market, BUT we are now (finally!) seeing things look up and the market really is thriving.

We are incredibly busy and operating at pre-COVID levels in terms of job instructions (If not better!). It’s great to see and be a part of this resurgence.
