Languages, Languages, Languages
We have recently seen an increasing demand from top city and international firms for candidates at both qualified and paralegal level with specific language skills to assist with document review work.
Most recent requests have been for native, Arabic, Hungarian, Dutch, Japanese, Mandarin, French, Russian and Brazilian Portuguese speakers. In fact the demand for foreign languages is so high at the moment that I cannot actually remember the last time we had a request for interim lawyers or paralegals without it being linked to a specific language requirement.
Whilst this is not the best news for the huge pool of English speaking interim lawyers and paralegals who work as document reviewers it is really positive for foreign qualified lawyers and paralegals who are currently looking for interim document review work in London.
The Volume Services team at BCL Legal, which is managed by Matthew Porter specialises in assisting City and International firms by providing interim lawyers to support litigation teams on large scale document review projects.
Established just over two years ago, we have registered over one thousand document review lawyers and paralegals which includes UK qualified solicitors, foreign qualified lawyers and paralegals, with language skills spanning the globe. Our candidates range from paralegals, newly qualified solicitors through to senior associates who have decided to work as professional document review lawyers. We are able to supply experienced and fully referenced qualified lawyers and paralegals with language skills, which are tested through comprehensive language tests, on a temporary or fixed term basis. These assignments can run from one day to a full year and everything can be tailored to meet our clients needs.
