It’s good time to be a private client lawyer!

Here at BCL Legal, we have noticed a huge rise in private client positions in both national and regional practices. They are now looking to recruit for qualified solicitors with private client experience to join their teams. More often than not, I am instructed to look for candidates with experience in high net worth private client matters or for someone who has an interest in pushing their career in this direction. Great news for those looking for that next step up!

So where have these opportunities come from? Nobody seems to be able to provide me with a substantive answer to this question. Maybe this is because we are now safely out of the recession zone and clients are more affluent, property prices are on the rise and businesses tend to be doing better. It is most definitely sensible to protect assets should the worst happen! Maybe, the rise of the non regulated ‘will writers’ have something to do with it? It could merely be due to a reshuffle of all the private client lawyers out there. Why has there been such a need to grow such departments and why is there a rush for it?

Since I started at BCL, there has been very little activity in the private client market which is why I am noticing such an incline. Whilst it is great to be presenting candidates with such a plethora of options, it is also interesting to see the trend and to understand why . I am expecting that there will be options for individuals to make fantastic career moves with this influx, so if you are a private client solicitor, it’s a great time to be on the market!
