Is there something missing…?
I have had an interesting few days to say the least! I have been going around with no glasses as mine have vanished into thin air. I have my suspicions that my six year old has conveniently hidden them somewhere whilst using them as some sort of dress up. The reason I believe she is behind this comes from the time my remote controls went missing and we were stuck on the same channel for three days until it came to light she had hidden them in her toy oven. (Yes, I have checked there for my specs).
As I have gone on these past few days without having a vital part of my day to day need, it led me to think of times when I have encountered things that are missing and how this can affect things, particular within work.
There have been times when speaking to candidates that I have thought I have the full picture about that individual’s job search, but later discover that something was missing. As consultants we may know why you want to leave your current job, why you want to concentrate on a particular location but sometimes the full picture is not apparent.
That’s why as a consultant it is important to have the full facts and enough understanding to ensure that no information is missing. Parts of your day to day life can have a big impact on starting a new role. The role may seem ideal and exactly what you are looking for. However, there may be a need in your life, such as time to do school runs, flexibility on hours, certain experience you require in training or having a certain commute.
At BCL I do my best to get the full picture of a candidates needs, ensure no information is missing, that would affect your decision to change your role. It may be you have not thought of a certain impact until I ask the question. This is why we are consultative and ensure we help make the right move for you.
So while I try to avoid doing a Simon Cowell and fight the desire to wear my prescription sunglasses in the middle of winter, have a think of the needs in your life to make that job work for you.
Here at BCL I focus on private practice recruitment in the East Midlands and Home Counties, specialising in recruiting partners, directors, senior associates, associates, solicitors and newly qualified solicitors of across all commercial disciplines.
