Is 2019 the year for a career change?
The Christmas break gave me a chance to take stock and reflect on an extremely busy year made up of great memories, work achievements and so many things to be thankful for (in both my personal and work life).
I feel very lucky to say I work at BCL Legal, and I love the BCL family. On a personal level, I’m proud to say I had a successful 2018: placing 29 lawyers into new legal jobs in Birmingham, and helping many more on their journey to secure a new role. In doing so, I received a promotion and this year I begin my new role as a manager, which I’m really excited about.
After a busy three years, I think back on how far I’ve come and look forward to helping new team members on their journey. The legal recruitment industry can be tough, and to be a success you need to be extremely resilient and have the strength of character to be able to self-evaluate when things don’t go to plan.
"At BCL Legal you’ll receive all the training and support you need in order to do the job. All we ask of you is that you’re committed, dedicated and prepared to get stuck in!"
As a former commercial litigation solicitor, with no previous sales experience, I was a complete novice to recruitment. However, having been a former candidate looking for a new role and having been contacted by and spoken to various recruiters over the years, I felt I had a good sense of what I liked and what I didn’t like.
I chose to join BCL Legal as they were the only recruitment agency I ever spoke to where I genuinely felt listened to – they went to great lengths to fully understand the reasons I was looking for a new role and the implications if I didn’t find the right one.
So, what can a career in legal recruitment – at BCL Legal – offer a former lawyer?
- Job satisfaction
- An excellent working environment: part-time and flexible working
- Genuine opportunities for career progression
- Good remuneration and bonus scheme
- Recognition and rewards for success
The legal market was extremely buoyant in Birmingham in 2018 and this looks to continue. As part of our growth plans, and in order to continue to deliver quality service to our clients, we must continue to recruit high quality legal recruitment consultants.
So, if you feel the new year is the right time for a change of direction and you’d like to find out more about what it’s like to work at BCL Legal, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with me!
I’ll sign off by wishing everyone a happy and healthy new year!
