Home is where the heart is!

Having recently relocated from the Middle East, I have to say I am finding Birmingham very interesting. As an overview, I lived in Abu Dhabi and then Dubai for two and a half years and commenced my career recruiting investment / private equity professionals into sovereign wealth funds and investment groups before I saw the light and moved to legal recruitment.

Legal recruitment really suits both my personality and academic experience. Having completed my LLB in 2013, I am currently studying with De Montfort University for my LLM in Sports Law. For many, the idea of studying and working is quite daunting, but actually, I think with some advanced planning and strong organisation skills, it can be really rewarding.

I am almost through my second week at BCL Legal and I am really enjoying it. I have joined the in-house desk and will be focussing on the Midlands and South West Regions. It’s been an excellent experience coming from the Middle East to join such an established organisation with a wealth of knowledge.

When living abroad, many people really turn their noses up at the idea of moving home (I was the same when the idea was first put into my head!) The reservations being everything from “won’t you miss the weather?” to “you will really miss the lifestyle out here” but actually for me, it’s the exact opposite. The move back to a cold, tax paying country has been infinitely better because I am closer to my family/friends and I have joined such a respected and renowned team.
