Have you considered your career aspirations recently… I recently did and look where I ended up!!

The quote above got me thinking… There are certain times in our lives where we reach a junction of ‘change’. Often it is the circumstances of life, however if there are no major changes to your every day circumstances it is still worthwhile every few years taking the time to consider where you are in your career, where you are going and importantly if you are happy on that track.

Having trained and worked as a lawyer in the in house sector for 8 years (and having had two children during that time), I myself reached a junction where I had to consider what my next career move should be.

The idea to leave my career as an in-house lawyer at BAE Systems and become an in house recruitment consultant for BCL Legal didn’t come out of thin air. I took the time to sit down to look at the experience I had gained to date, the skills I had accumulated and what I wanted from a future career. Having done this, I carried out some research on the internet, and the vacancy at BCL Legal appeared – not miraculously! It offered me the opportunity to combine my knowledge of working as an in house lawyer with my desire to help people find the right job with a company that has an excellent reputation in the area.

Joanne joined BCL Legal in 2014 to focus on placing lawyers, company secretaries and compliance professionals into businesses across the Midlands and the South West of England. Joanne graduated in law and French and completed the LPC at Cardiff University in 2000. She joined Thales as a legal and commercial graduate in 2003 and subsequently trained in-house as a solicitor at Thales’ UK headquarters. In 2005, she joined BAE Systems as counsel in their military air business and provided legal support to different areas of the business until 2013.
