Happy Birthday to Us!

The London office of BCL Legal celebrated its second birthday in February. What a two years it has been!

I started my legal recruitment career at BCL Legal in Manchester which is where we are headquartered. After five successful years in Manchester I decided to relocate to London, this was mostly driven by desire to live in the capital but also to experience working for another company.

After three years working for a competitor and building my network in London I was approached by BCL and asked to build a London office from scratch. This was not as daunting a task as it could have been as I knew BCL would provide a great platform and infrastructure and I was confident that my contacts and network would generate work.

So on the first Monday in February 2013 I arrived at our office in the City; it was a small four man office not much bigger than a walk in wardrobe. The following month a colleague of mine from my former employer joined me and we set to work in building the foundations.

Mindful of our restrictive covenants we set to work; it was hard in the first few months, lots of firms were reluctant to work with us but we persevered and worked as hard as we could until we eventually got our first big opportunity. From that moment on things clicked into place and work snowballed.

We have now established ourselves as one of the leading suppliers of interim lawyers and paralegals to firms in the City; we supply to Magic Circle, US, international and other leading firms as well as many of the successful smaller firms within Greater London.

Our interim team has grown to four consultants and we have established our permanent team which has three consultants and an in-house team that supplies permanent lawyers to in-house legal teams of some of the world’s most recognisable brands.
