Five reasons why I enjoy working in recruitment at BCL Legal...
I’ve just been promoted to Associate Director at BCL Legal, and I thought it an appropriate time to reflect on five reasons why I enjoy working in recruitment at BCL Legal:
>>>
1)
I mange my own desk. At BCL Legal you have your own patch so you cover particular disciplines in one location. This means you can become a real specialist in your field, and offer the best advice. I plan my own day, I decide where to focus my efforts, who to call, and who to meet. I work autonomously but I’m also part of a wider North West, and BCL, team, where we share information for the betterment of the business.
2)
It’s very fulfilling - you genuinely do make a difference. This is evidenced by the lovely testimonials we receive from candidates and clients on a daily basis! If you’re good at your job, you do build longstanding relationships with candidates and clients.
Charlotte was a fantastic support in helping me find a new NQ role in a new city. Charlotte was extremely knowledgeable and I felt that she really knew the market well so I was in safe hands. She really listened to what I wanted from both a firm and role. Charlotte was an absolute pleasure to deal with and made my job search a pleasant experience. Charlotte always kept me up to date and was always on hand to answer any questions I had which really put me at ease. I would highly recommend Charlotte to any candidate who is looking to change jobs.
Charlotte helped me secure a role with my dream firm! She took time to understand my requirements and only showed me roles that I would be interested in. She helped me prepare for the interviews, and I ended up with two fantastic offers from leading international law firms. Charlotte was extremely supportive throughout the process; she gave me sound advice, and intuitively knew what I needed to help me make a decision. I really felt that Charlotte had my best interest at heart, and she sincerely wanted me to find a role that I would enjoy. Overall, I am so glad to have found Charlotte and I would not hesitate to recommend her to others! Thanks Charlotte!
3)
People genuinely do enjoy working with us, and they come back to us when they’re looking to move again (and refer their friends to us!). One of the most rewarding things for me is getting a referral - it shows I’ve done a good job.

No two days are the same. You’re speaking to, and meeting, new people every day. Recruitment is a roller coaster ride. It is fast-paced at times and there are certainly twists and turns! Things don’t always go to plan and you have to be resilient. You’re dealing with people and their situation can change very quickly!
5)
You get out what you put in. Recruitment isn’t easy - it’s not just sending CVs. If you work hard, learn from your mistakes, and listen to those around you, it can be a very rewarding job. If you’re good at your job, it can be very rewarding both emotionally and financially.
