Employers seek to increase permanent workforce, says REC survey

85% of employers are planning to increase their permanent workforce in the short term – the highest proportion since records began – according to research conducted by the Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC).

The organisation’s Jobs Outlook survey published today also showed that 30% of employers say they rely on agency workers to reduce costs, compared with 69% stating the same last year. In addition, more than 40% of employers plan to increase agency worker use in the next quarter.

BCL Legal, the leading legal recruitment business, has increased its consultant workforce by 40% in the first two quarters of 2014 and its support staff by 52%. The market is extremely strong and confidence is high. Demand for high calibre candidates across a range of specialist disciplines is outstripping supply”.
