East is East….
Here at BCL Legal we are proud to have over thirty consultants that cover all legal disciplines nationally. We all cover different demographics so we can have specialist knowledge in the locations and disciplines we cover. This enables us to build up and maintain relationships with our clients with whom we regularly recruit for.
The location I cover is the East Midlands and I wanted to share with you how the market is currently. I focus on private practice recruitment specialising in recruiting partners, directors, senior associates, associates, solicitors and newly qualified solicitors across all commercial disciplines.
Recently there has been an abundance of commercial contract roles, particularly in Nottingham. A lot of the top tier practices are growing and are seeking commercial solicitors who have a focus on commercial contracts, in particular those with a specialism in IT and Technology and Procurement.
Upon speaking to the Partners the reason for this need is that they are looking to expand the specialism in this area out of their London teams and into the Nottingham market which means a lot of international and large project work. Exciting times for those East Midlands commercial Solicitors wanting to make a new step in their legal career to work on exciting projects closer to home.
There has also been an abundance of commercial property roles from small regional firms up to the top tier firms. Given the lack of candidates on the market, firms are more open to flexibility on working arrangements, level of pqe and those that have had time out and want to get back into a commercial property role. If you are a commercial property lawyer it is a great time to speak to us about options out there on the market. It’s a good time to find a role that would fit with your needs.
Corporate Solicitors are also much sought after in the East Midlands market as they are all over the UK. Firms are looking to expand their teams due to a growth in the market. Similar to commercial property, there is an urgent need for corporate solicitors. A great time to make a move.
The disciplines which are not as buoyant I am finding are family and employment. This is due to the many changes both have had in recent years in legislation and funding. However, there are roles out there with great firms offering a variety of flexibility and excellent career prospects.
As the dark nights draw in and you feel like it is time to have a think about the next step you would like to take your career and are looking specifically in the East Midlands call Victoria Noble at BCL Legal. I will consult with what your needs are and inform you of roles that may be of interest.
