Demand is currently high for commercial property lawyers across firms in Yorkshire. With commercial property investment reaching a record high of almost £55bn in 2014, according to DTZ. Major deals took place in Yorkshire over 2014, with almost two thirds of Yorkshire’s deals being completed in the last half of 2014.
The Yorkshire market is said to have returned to its pre-financial crisis peak and this is clearly coming through as shown by the number of firms who are looking to recruit into their commercial property teams. There are fantastic opportunities in the Yorkshire region and in particular in Leeds, for commercial property solicitors, legal executives and paralegals who want to progress their careers within real estate with Legal 500 rated firms. With openings at all levels of post qualification experience, from newly qualified through to associate, at top and mid tier Legal 500 firms, now is the time to think about your career progression within real estate law.
2015 is clearly the year of continued growth in real estate and for commercial property lawyers this means new opportunities. Any concerns you may previously have held over job security by moving into an uncertain market can now be allayed by the volume of commercial property transactions across law firms and the high demand for lawyers with real estate experience.
You may be due to qualify this year, in either March or September and have a real interest in commercial property work, having undertaken a real estate seat. If so, now is the perfect time to start planning your job search to find your qualification role. There will be a plethora of opportunities for newly qualified solicitors into real estate positions this year. If you are due to qualify imminently ensure your CV is up to date and make the call to find out what opportunities there are for you in the current market. September qualifiers should be starting to look at their CV, the content and layout and making initial approaches to find out what opportunities exist and the type of firm and culture that will be right for you upon qualification. You may have previous paralegal experience in real estate which will be invaluable in qualifying into a real estate discipline.
Paralegal opportunities also exist within the top and mid tier Legal 500 firms, you can really springboard your career in real estate by gaining experience within a supportive firm environment that will allow you to grow and develop your career.
