BCL Legal welcomes in the new Leeds JLD Committee at the annual handover

At the end of August, BCL Legal’s Yorkshire and North East Team spent the evening in Leeds with the Junior Lawyers Division to celebrate the handover from the old committee to the new.

During their first meeting as the new JLD, the old committee members handed over their wisdom to the new committee members who were elected a month or so ago. Around twenty or so new and old committee members then joined us for a celebratory meal. The staff certainly had their work cut out taking twenty odd orders from us all, but it was a great meal all round. In a moment reminiscent of school dinner days, one poor waiter did drop a pizza all over the floor (cue applause), but a new pizza was rustled up pretty quickly.

Matthew Martin the new Chair quickly introduced himself, and had a long chat with us about his plans for the future. He is taking over from Paul Colman who has done sterling job on the committee in previous years. The wine flowed, and after a great catch up some of us headed down to the local pub for a few more bottles of wine. A bit of a late night for some, but a great way to see out the old committee and welcome in the new.

We have built up a great relationship with the Leeds JLD for the past couple of years now, and we hope this continues long in the future.
