BCL Legal sees a 56% increase in Conveyancing Jobs year on year
It’s been well documented that the UK housing market picked up in 2013 with mortgage lending and prices both rising. It was said that whilst the lending figures showed an increase in activity, this was not a return to the boom of the previous decade- or was it?
Whilst firms have remained reasonably cautious on recruitment, the desire to take on more staff is definitely on the rise. Conveyancing powerhouses like My Home Move conveyancing alongside major regional players expanding teams across offices means residential property is very busy. At BCL Legal, we have seen a 56% rise in conveyancing jobs nationally this August and September against vacancies registered in 2013. At the beginning of the year there was a nervousness about over-resourcing in case the upturn was short-lived, but with the housing market showing no real signs of cooling, confidence has certainly returned.
An increased volume of cases has left a huge pressure on firms. Many are being flexible in terms of experience level, opting to train assistants internally to the point where they can take on cases themselves. Many of our clients are offering in-house training academies and giving progression opportunities to many wanting to undertake a career within residential conveyancing.
