BCL Legal NQ Seminar
On 19th March, BCL Legal will be running their annual NQ seminar in conjunction with the BTSS. This is a popular event that is designed to assist trainee solicitors who are approaching qualification. The purpose of the event is to arm trainee solicitors with the knowledge they need to make the right decisions about their career. This year the event is being hosted by Gateley and Gateley Partner Pam Scott will be making a presentation alongside myself.
In past years we have encountered misconceptions about the purpose of the event so perhaps it is worthwhile dealing with some of those first.
1) Attending the event does not mean that you are looking to leave your current firm on qualification. It means that you are trying to get as much information as possible, so as to make the best decisions. 2) Attending the event does not mean that you are signing up with BCL Legal, or that you want to work for Gateley. The event is about giving you information concerning the NQ market and what partners look for etc. 3) This seminar will not be the same as others that have already taken place with other recruiters. We have the largest, most experienced private practice recruitment team in Birmingham and make significantly more NQ placements in East and West Midlands than our competitors. 4) BCL Legal will not contact you after the seminar regarding signing up with us. If you wish to work with us then you will need to contact us.
For the past few weeks we have been running a Survey Monkey that has been open to all BTSS members, asking for your ideas on what you would most like us to talk about. There is also an opportunity for you to submit anonymous questions in advance, if there is something you would like us to deal with that you are uncomfortable raising in an open forum.
The schedule for the evening will be some short presentations from myself and Pam, followed by questions from the floor. There will then be refreshments and an opportunity for you to speak representatives from Gateley and our specialist consultants in a more informal setting.
Our consultants specialise in recruitment into specific disciplines of law. They will therefore be able to give you a real indication of what the market looks like in the area of law you wish to go into. On the night you will be able to talk about the following consultants;
Claire Coulter & Bhavisha Duggal – Insurance, Personal Injury and Clinical Negligence Joanne Lack – Litigation (Commercial, Property Civil), Family, Private Client and Crime Chantel Gallagher – Residential Property Nick Fear – Corporate, Commercial, Employment, Banking, Pensions, Corporate Tax and In-house Gish Abeyratne – Real Estate, Planning and Construction
So if you have any questions at all about what awaits you upon qualifying as a solicitor in 2014, please come and see us on 19th March at the Gateley offices in Birmingham One Eleven Edmund Street from 6pm.
