BCL Graduates attend BPP University
Monday 7th December 2015
Vicky Clark, Director of BCL Legal attended BPP in Manchester last Thursday. She was invited to meet their Legal Employer Panel and attend the Law Fair. She presented to the students about what is currently happening within the legal sector and what may be happening in the future at the time the students are due to qualify. The fair attracted students from other universities as well as BPP. She mentioned that the areas of law that are currently in demand in the North West are; Corporate, Commercial, Real Estate, Conveyancing and Industrial Disease. These areas are mostly driven by investment in infrastructure and construction, a booming real estate market, an increase in house sales as well as the ‘Metro Effect’ in the suburbs of the city.
The talk with the students was followed by a questions and answer session. Vicky answered questions from the students alongside a number of people from across the profession including; Matthew Akin, Graduate Recruitment Manager at BLM,Matthew Gibbons, Senior Clerk at Deans Court Chambers, Anna Woodruff, Associate Solicitor at Express Solicitors, Stuart Cartwright, Partner at JMW, Emma Walmsley, Legal Manager & Commercial litigation solicitor at Riverview Lawand Alastair Lomax, Partner atTLT.
“The message we all tried to get across wasn’t rocket science – strive to get a 2:1 or higher, do some sort of work experience and make lots of friends along the way.
