A day in the life of a Team Assistant
Before life working in recruitment I was accustomed to assisting people having a great time on their holidays overseas where you would work hard and party hard. After relocating back to the UK I started my first job in recruitment in 2004 and I have been working in the industry ever since. I certainly don’t party as hard but the rewards of working hard at BCL Legal has taken me on fine dining experiences to include trips to Gordon Ramseys at Claridges and Marcus Wareing at The Berkeley. This is in addition to weekend trips to Barcelona and Mallorca all expenses paid.
What exactly do I do to get such great rewards? It’s simple. I assist a team of very talented legal recruiters. Teamwork is a massive part of everyone’s role at BCL Legal and this is especially true of a team assistant who supports a very busy team. The role is very varied and aims to take the administration away from the consultants so that they can focus on what they are great at; placing great candidates with quality law firms.
A typical day can be a balancing act of searching through job boards looking for candidates, posting jobs onto multiple websites, confirming interviews, reviewing regional legal news, assisting candidates and clients in the absence of the recruiters and making sure that all candidates we place have all the relevant paperwork in place. Most of all my job is to make sure the consultants are happy and have the tools they need to do their role, even if this does mean inflicting my sense of humour onto them. The days never go slowly at BCL Legal and getting up in the morning and looking forward to going to work is a great feeling. This of course wouldn’t be possible without a great team and great working environment.
