2014 – The year of the Private Client lawyer?
2014 is well and truly upon us! Christmas is now a long and distant memory, with dreams being filled with thoughts of summer holidays in far away places. But for thoughts closer to home, January and the return to work after the Xmas break tends to make most people focus on their career and what the new year may (or may not) bring.
Private client lawyers are still in high demand after the influx of private client roles during the final quarter of 2013. Firms, both large and small, across the Midlands and the South remain committed to expanding their private client departments offering general private client caseloads as well as specialist areas such as court of protection, contentious probate or high net worth tax and trusts.
If you are thinking of making a career move and have solid experience in general private client or one of the niche areas noted above, as well as having strong academics and a solid work history then you are in a great position to have your pick of jobs. With the economy and legal market much improved, firms are offering competitive and attractive remuneration packages as well as clear routes for progression. So if the rise of the new year has made you feel like you’re stagnating in your current role with no sign of a salary increase or opportunity to progress internally, why not take advantage of the current buoyant private client market?
If you are a private client lawyer looking for a new challenge firms are looking to recruit across various levels of PQE, from paralegal through to Head of Department.
