THE BUSINESS Our client is one of the largest transport services organisations in Europe, employing some 55,500 people and delivering more than 2 billion passenger journeys across Europe. A vacancy has arisen for a Corporate / Commercial Solicitor to work in its established legal function, across their European operations. THE ROLE This particular role is to work for the international arm of the business, handling heavyweight commercial and corporate work across Europe. Currently operating across 9 jurisdictions, there is significant growth and investment planned for their European operations, and the legal team will be integral to that growth. The mainstay of the role is high value, complex commercial agreements, as well as corporate work as they undertake M&A work again to expand across the continent. Additionally the work may comprise heavyweight commercial agreements, corporate work, procurement, regulatory work, IT contracts, data protection issues and competition matters. ABOUT YOU We are looking for an enthusiastic and personable solicitor with experience of dealing with large scale commercial contracts. That experience may have been gained in-house or in private practice as a commercial / corporate lawyer, or a related 'business law' discipline. In addition you should be commercially minded, adaptable and customer focused. It is anticipated that you will have at least 3 years pqe to have gained the technical experience needed, but if you have significantly more that would be helpful. The development of close working relationships with internal and external parties will also be key, role so good interpersonal and communication skills are a must. The breadth of this role means that adaptability is important, and although the main focus of this role is heavyweight commercial and corporate matters you must be able to have a 'whatever crosses the desk' approach. ADDITIONAL This role offers a competitive salary, car, good remuneration package commensurate with your skills and experience, and an opportunity to take on an interesting role within a large multinational group. Offering a hybrid working model, you'll be based at their head office in Sunderland for a couple of days a week, and working from home the rest of the week. There will be the opportunity for some European travel within the Group, but this is occasional
