BCL Legal are working with a leading national law firm to source a Solicitor (1-3 PQE) to join their Real Estate - Housing & Regeneration team in London. This role focuses on managing a diverse range of commercial property matters, with a specific emphasis on development projects and asset management for housing clients.
The successful candidate will be responsible for handling key aspects of property law, with a focus on both transactional and advisory work. Specific responsibilities include:
- Managing a caseload of commercial property matters, including drafting and negotiating leases, agreements for leases, licences, and deeds of easement.
- Overseeing portfolio lease reviews for housing clients, ensuring all commercial arrangements are aligned with client objectives.
- Collaborating closely with the firm's property litigation team to manage disputes, such as landlord-tenant issues, rent arrears, and notices.
- Advising on the freehold sale and acquisition of commercial premises, ensuring that all transactions align with clients' strategic goals.
- Supporting the Development Team with commercial property aspects of large-scale regeneration and development projects, including advising on land acquisition and site development structures.
- Engaging in electronic communications agreements, with a focus on housing clients as tenants.
- Providing legal and technical support to paralegals, ensuring deadlines for exchanges are met and all client objectives are achieved.
- Liaising with clients to advise on the regulatory requirements for affordable housing projects, including funding and contractual structures specific to the housing sector.
- Contributing to business development efforts, including client training and internal knowledge-sharing sessions.
Requirements:
- 1-3 years PQE in commercial property, real estate development, or a related field.
Strong experience in property law, including both leasehold and freehold matters, site acquisition, and property development.
- Familiarity with affordable housing regulation and the legal frameworks surrounding housing associations and social housing development.
- The ability to work collaboratively across teams, particularly with planning, construction, and procurement departments, to ensure successful project outcomes.
