A prestigious and highly regarded law firm is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Attorney with at least 3 years of expertise in derivatives law. This individual will play a critical role in representing financial institutions, hedge funds, private equity funds, and corporate end users in complex and multifaceted derivatives transactions. The position involves substantial responsibility in the structuring, development, negotiation, and documentation of a broad range of derivative products, including but not limited to total return swaps, equity derivatives, and securities lending.
The ideal candidate will possess a JD, LL.M., or an equivalent advanced degree in law, and will have demonstrated proficiency in advising clients on intricate, high-stakes transactions in the derivatives space. A deep understanding of regulatory compliance, particularly in relation to the Dodd-Frank Act, as well as other relevant federal and state regulations governing derivatives and financial products, is essential. The attorney will be expected to provide strategic legal guidance to clients, ensuring that transactions adhere to the appropriate legal frameworks and regulatory requirements, while also offering solutions that best meet their business objectives.
Key responsibilities for the role will include:
* Providing comprehensive legal counsel to clients on the structuring and execution of hedging components within financing transactions, ensuring compliance with applicable laws, and minimizing risk exposure.
* Advising clients on navigating evolving regulatory landscapes, particularly with respect to derivatives and financial markets, including Dodd-Frank and other pertinent regulations.
* Assisting in the negotiation and documentation of a variety of derivative agreements, including ISDA Master Agreements, CSA agreements, and related documents.
* Mentoring and supervising junior associates, fostering their professional development, and contributing to the overall growth of the team.
* Actively participating in client development activities, cultivating relationships, and identifying new business opportunities for the firm in the derivatives space.
The position is based in New York City and offers a hybrid work structure, allowing for telecommuting up to two days a week. The successful candidate must be admitted to the New York State Bar and should be prepared to engage in a dynamic, fast-paced, and collaborative work environment.
