CONSTRUCTION ASSOCIATE (NON CONTENTIOUS) | LONDON An exciting opportunity has arisen for a talented Non-Contentious Construction Associate to join a highly respected and rapidly growing construction practice in London. This team has been at the forefront of some of the most high-profile and complex real estate and infrastructure projects in the UK over the past 25 years. As part of one of the largest dedicated construction teams in London, you will work on major developments and transactions, acting for a prestigious client base that includes institutional investors, developers, funders, and landlords. THE TEAM This market-leading Non-Contentious Construction team has seen significant investment in recent years through internal promotions and strategic lateral hires, forming a core part of the firm's commitment to the real estate and built environment sector. The team provides commercially focused, strategic advice on high-value and complex projects, collaborating closely with specialists across real estate, corporate, and finance. THE ROLE As an Associate in the Non-Contentious Construction team, you will be responsible for a wide range of work, including: - Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating construction project documentation such as Building contracts (including JCT, NEC, and bespoke forms); Professional appointments for consultants and designers; Collateral warranties, third-party rights notices, and parent company guarantees; Performance bonds and development agreements; agreements for lease and forward funding agreements. - Advising on construction aspects of real estate, corporate, and finance transactions, including due diligence and risk assessment. - Working closely with clients throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring that contracts and documentation align with their commercial objectives. - Providing strategic advice on pre-dispute matters, helping to manage risks and avoid costly disputes. - Liaising with colleagues in related practice areas (such as real estate, finance, and corporate) to provide seamless support on complex transactions. ABOUT YOU To be successful in this role, you will have: - 1-5 years' PQE in non-contentious construction law, ideally gained at a leading City, national, or highly regarded regional firm. - A solid grounding in standard-form construction contracts (such as JCT and NEC), professional appointments, and construction-related security documents. - Experience advising developers, institutional investors, landlords, and funders on high-value and complex projects. - A strong commercial awareness, with the ability to tailor advice to clients' strategic objectives. - Excellent drafting, negotiation, and problem-solving skills. - The ability to manage multiple matters effectively, working both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
