A leading UK law firm is seeking a talented Construction Litigation Associate to join its well-established and highly ranked Contentious Construction team in London. This is an excellent opportunity for a construction disputes lawyer to work on complex, high-value matters for a diverse and prestigious client base spanning both the public and private sectors.
You'll be joining a recognised national practice with deep sector expertise across construction, housing, infrastructure, local government, healthcare, energy, and financial services. The firm acts for a wide range of clients, including NHS Trusts, local authorities, developers, contractors, funders, and housing associations.
This role offers genuine scope for progression, strong mentoring from experienced partners, and exposure to major contentious construction matters, including both domestic and project-related disputes.
As a Construction Litigation Associate, you will advise on a wide range of construction and engineering disputes, including:
- Final account disputes and loss & expense claims
- Complex defect issues, including fire safety and cladding litigation
- Contractual claims involving delay, termination, and extensions of time
- Adjudications, arbitrations, and litigation in the Technology and Construction Court (TCC)
- PFI-related and infrastructure disputes (experience beneficial but not essential)
- Claims involving professional negligence by architects, engineers, and other consultants
- Advising clients on dispute avoidance strategies and risk management
You will manage your own caseload and also work closely with partners and senior lawyers on larger, strategically significant matters. The team is highly collaborative, offering strong peer support and shared expertise across all levels.
Candidate Requirements:
- UK-qualified solicitor with 2+ years' PQE in contentious construction
- Solid experience in adjudication, arbitration, and TCC litigation
- Strong analytical and drafting skills with a practical, commercial approach
- Confident managing matters independently while contributing to team success
- Excellent communication skills and a proactive approach to client care
- An interest in business development and helping grow key client relationships
