Construction Litigation Associate A highly regarded specialist team in the City of London is seeking a Construction Litigation Associate to join its growing practice. This role offers exposure to a broad range of complex and high-profile disputes across the construction sector, working with clients that include housing associations, public sector bodies, developers, contractors, and insurers. The successful candidate will have 2-5 years' PQE with experience handling contentious construction matters. The workload will involve representing clients in adjudications, arbitrations, expert determinations, and litigation in the Technology and Construction Court (TCC). The team advises on a full spectrum of construction-related disputes, including defects, payment issues, delays, contract terminations, insolvency, and additional fee claims. A key focus of the practice is defects disputes, particularly those related to fire safety and cladding systems on high-rise buildings, as well as claims under latent defects insurance policies. The role will also involve advising clients on European procurement law and handling procurement-related disputes for contracting authorities and economic operators. Clients seek strategic guidance on dispute resolution and avoidance strategies, requiring a commercially astute and pragmatic approach. Key Responsibilities: - Acting for clients in litigation before the TCC, adjudications, arbitrations, mediations, and expert determinations. - Managing disputes related to construction projects, including defects, delays, payment issues, terminations, and insolvency. - Advising on procurement disputes and regulatory matters for public sector clients and private entities. - Handling large-scale defects disputes, particularly those concerning fire safety, cladding, and latent defects policies. - Providing strategic advice on dispute avoidance and alternative dispute resolution mechanisms. - Drafting pleadings, witness statements, and other legal documentation. - Working collaboratively with clients, experts, and counsel to develop case strategies. Key Requirements: - 2-5 years' PQE in construction litigation, with experience in adjudications, arbitrations, and TCC proceedings. - Strong technical knowledge of construction law and standard form contracts (JCT, NEC, etc.). - Excellent analytical, drafting, and advocacy skills. - A proactive and commercially minded approach to dispute resolution. - The ability to manage a varied caseload and work effectively under pressure. - Strong client-facing and relationship-building skills.
