CONSTRUCTION LAWYER | LONDON
An excellent opportunity has arisen for a skilled and experienced Construction Lawyer to join a dynamic and forward-thinking legal team in London. This role is ideal for an Associate or Senior Associate with a strong background in construction law who is seeking to work on a broad range of complex and high-profile projects.
You will be part of a highly respected construction and engineering team that advises on all aspects of construction law, from project inception to completion and beyond. The role involves providing strategic legal advice on procurement, contracts, and market expectations, as well as handling contentious matters that may arise. There is also the opportunity to get involved in business development activities, contributing to the team's growth and maintaining strong client relationships.
The client base is diverse and includes developers, contractors, sub-contractors, consultants, public authorities, higher education bodies, and funding and letting entities. You will work on a wide variety of projects including:
- Development Work: Advising on major residential, commercial, and mixed-use developments, ensuring legal compliance and effective contract management.
- Infrastructure Projects: Providing counsel on large-scale national infrastructure initiatives, including highways, rail, and energy projects.
- Remediation Contracts: Assisting with legal matters relating to environmental and structural remediation, offering risk management advice.
- Process Plant and Power Generation Projects: Supporting clients through the complexities of energy and industrial plant developments, including nuclear, renewable energy, and waste-to-energy projects.
In this role, you will collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team of specialists, including planning, environment, construction disputes, and corporate lawyers. You will also engage directly with clients, offering proactive and commercially focused advice to help achieve project goals.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- 4+ years PQE with significant experience in non-contentious or contentious construction law.
- Proven experience working on high-value projects and providing strategic legal advice.
- Strong commercial awareness and the ability to build and maintain client relationships.
- Excellent drafting, negotiation, and analytical skills.
- A collaborative approach, with the ability to work effectively in cross-disciplinary teams.
- A proactive attitude with the willingness to contribute to the firm's business development and thought leadership initiatives.
