CONSTRUCTION ASSOCIATE (NON-CONTENTIOUS) | 1-3 PQE | LONDON
A highly regarded London law firm is seeking a Non-Contentious Construction Associate to join its established and growing practice. This is an exciting opportunity for a junior construction lawyer to work on a broad range of high-value, complex projects across various sectors. The top 100 UK Law firm is well-known for providing practical, commercially focused legal advice to a prestigious client base.
THE ROLE
As a Non-Contentious Construction Associate, you will play a key role in advising on the legal aspects of construction projects from inception to completion. Your responsibilities will include:
- Advising on Construction Contracts: Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a wide range of standard form and bespoke construction contracts, including JCT, NEC, FIDIC, and IChemE contracts. You will also advise on consultancy agreements, collateral warranties, parent company guarantees, and performance bonds.
- Development and Project Support: Providing strategic legal advice on large-scale construction and development projects. You will work closely with clients from the early planning stages through to project delivery, ensuring that contracts align with their commercial objectives.
- Risk Management: Advising clients on procurement strategies, risk allocation, and compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements.
- Transaction Support: Working alongside the real estate, finance, and corporate teams to provide construction expertise in large-scale real estate developments, acquisitions, financing transactions, and joint ventures.
- Sustainability and ESG: Supporting clients on sustainable construction initiatives, including modern methods of construction (MMC) and compliance with ESG goals.
- Client Management: Acting as the day-to-day contact for clients, providing responsive and commercially sound advice on ongoing and new matters.
- Business Development: Contributing to the growth of the practice by building strong client relationships, identifying new opportunities, and participating in industry events and thought leadership.

THE CANDIDATE
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- 1-3 years' PQE with experience in non-contentious construction law gained at a reputable law firm.
- Strong understanding of construction contracts and procurement strategies.
- Excellent drafting, negotiation, and advisory skills.
- Commercial acumen and the ability to provide pragmatic legal solutions.
- Strong client relationship management abilities.
- A collaborative approach and a willingness to engage in business development activities.
- A keen interest in construction and infrastructure sectors.
