Planning Lawyer An outstanding opportunity has arisen for an experienced Planning Lawyer to join a leading planning practice, renowned for its work on some of the UK's most high-profile development projects. This role is ideal for a skilled solicitor with a passion for shaping the future of urban landscapes and infrastructure. About the Team: The Planning Team operates nationally, advising on a comprehensive range of planning matters, including development applications, infrastructure consenting, appeals, and compulsory purchase and compensation issues. Clients include developers, landowners, housebuilders, local authorities, and major corporations. The team's expertise spans: - Commercial development projects, including office, retail, and logistics schemes. - Residential-led strategic developments, with schemes reaching up to 5,000 new homes. - Infrastructure projects, such as highways and strategic rail freight interchanges. - Compulsory purchase matters, acting for acquiring authorities and objectors. Key Responsibilities: - Manage a diverse caseload, providing commercially sound advice under tight deadlines. - Draft, negotiate, and review planning agreements, infrastructure agreements, and other related documents. - Advise on planning applications, appeals, judicial reviews, and compulsory purchase matters. - Work closely with clients to deliver practical solutions and guide them through complex planning processes. - Represent clients at inquiries, hearings, and other proceedings. - Collaborate with colleagues across teams and jurisdictions to provide seamless support. - Contribute to the team's business development initiatives, including delivering presentations, hosting seminars, and attending client events. Candidate requirements: - Qualified solicitor with substantial experience in planning law, at least 6 PQE. - A strong track record in drafting and negotiating planning-related agreements and documents. - Knowledge of infrastructure agreements, compulsory purchase issues, and planning applications. - Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with a client-focused approach. - Proven ability to manage complex matters and supervise junior team members. - A proactive mindset and enthusiasm for contributing to the team's growth and success.
