BCL Legal is excited to partner with an expanding Public Procurement team at a highly regarded law firm, seeking an experienced Procurement Disputes Associate to join their newly refurbished Birmingham office. This is an excellent opportunity for an Associate with 3+ years PQE to work on a broad range of public procurement disputes across diverse sectors, including health and social care, housing, local government, and charities.
As part of the firm's Legal 500 and Chambers-rated team, you will provide expert advice and support to clients on both contentious and non-contentious matters within the procurement sector. The Role
As a Procurement Disputes Associate, you will:
· Provide expert legal advice on procurement disputes across various sectors, such as health, housing, social care, local government, and charity.
· Manage litigation matters in line with the Civil Procedure Rules, with ongoing consideration of merits and settlement opportunities.
· Handle a mix of dispute instructions, offering variety in both short-term and long-term client matters.
· Collaborate closely with the wider Projects Department to deliver comprehensive legal services.
· Support clients with training and advisory work, particularly on the Procurement Act 2023.
· Supervise and mentor junior lawyers, fostering their development within the team.
· Contribute to the growth of the practice, including potential involvement in business development and marketing activities.
About You
To be considered for this role, you will have:
· 3+ years PQE with experience in public procurement dispute work.
· A strong understanding of the Public Contracts Regulations 2015 and the Procurement Act 2023.
· A proven track record of managing procurement disputes from advisory stages through to resolution.
· Experience advising clients across various sectors, including health, housing, local government, and charities.
· The ability to work both independently and as part of a team on complex, high-value matters.
· Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex legal issues clearly to non-legal professionals.
· A desire to mentor junior team members and contribute to the development of the team.
