This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Commercial and Procurement Lawyer to join the firm's Commercial and Infrastructure Department in Birmingham. The team is well-regarded for its work on high-profile commercial and public sector projects, focusing on procurement processes, contract management, and complex commercial transactions. The department advises across several sectors, including healthcare, local government, and energy, with a particular focus on NHS and public sector procurement work. With a hybrid working model in place, you will benefit from a flexible approach to working, enabling a balance between personal and professional commitments. The Role: As a Commercial and Procurement Lawyer, you will: · Advise a range of public and private sector clients on complex commercial contracts and procurement processes, including those in the NHS, local government, and housing. · Play a key role in advising clients on procurement structures, helping them navigate tender processes, approvals, and planning timetables. · Provide strategic advice on procurement documents to ensure they reflect clients' objectives and support the selection of the right partners. · Work with clients on a wide variety of commercial and contractual arrangements, including joint ventures, collaborations, outsourcing, and shared services agreements. · Support the development of junior lawyers and contribute to business development and marketing initiatives to grow the department's profile, particularly in emerging areas like health and AI. · Collaborate with colleagues across the firm, including those in corporate, procurement, property, employment, and finance teams, on multidisciplinary projects. Candidate Requirements: The ideal candidate will have: · 3-8 years' PQE, with experience in commercial contracts and procurement law, preferably advising public sector clients. · Strong experience with public sector procurement processes (PFI, PPP, or similar procurement frameworks). · Excellent technical skills, with the ability to understand and navigate complex legal and commercial issues. · A collaborative and proactive approach to work, with experience of supervising junior lawyers. · A passion for business development and an interest in the marketing and promotion of legal services. · The ability to liaise effectively with clients and build strong relationships. · A positive and flexible approach to working, with a strong desire to excel and progress within the firm.
