In-House Commercial (Technology) Lawyer | 5+ PQE | Birmingham/Hybrid
BCL Legal is pleased to be working with a leading international law firm to recruit a Contracts (Technology) Lawyer to join their in-house team. This is an exciting opportunity to work on a broad range of technology-focused commercial contracts, providing strategic legal advice across the firm's global operations while enjoying the stability and resources of a major law firm.
The Role:
As a key member of the in-house team, you will work closely with procurement specialists, IT experts, and business functions such as HR, finance, and business development. You will draft, review, negotiate, and advise on a wide range of technology contracts and supplier management issues, including licensing, SaaS, data protection, and AI-related contracts.
Key responsibilities include:
· Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating technology contracts, including SaaS, licensing, and AI-related agreements.
· Advising on data protection, intellectual property, confidentiality, and information security issues within commercial contracts.
· Providing strategic legal guidance on digital transformation projects and technology procurement across the firm's global operations.
· Supporting procurement teams and business functions in drafting and reviewing RFPs and supplier contracts.
· Assisting with supplier management, including contract disputes and exit strategies.
· Building strong relationships with internal clients, providing tailored legal support to meet business needs.
· Contributing to the development of procurement policies and best practices.
· Keeping up-to-date with emerging trends in technology law, including AI, and providing forward-thinking legal advice.
Candidate Requirements:
To be considered for this role, you will need:
· A minimum of 5 years' PQE, ideally with experience in IT/commercial law (both in-house and private practice experience will be considered).
· Strong knowledge of technology-related contracts, including SaaS, licensing, IP, AI, and data protection.
· Experience advising on procurement contracts, supplier management, and risk mitigation strategies.
· A proactive and solution-driven approach to legal issues, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
· Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build relationships across departments.
· A keen interest in emerging technology trends and a commitment to staying up-to-date with industry developments.
