BCL Legal is delighted to be acting for this leading national law firm, seeking a Senior Associate to join its highly regarded Employment (Health) team in Birmingham. This is a fantastic opportunity to work on a diverse range of employment law matters within the health sector, combining contentious and non-contentious work for high-profile clients. The role is offered on a full-time, permanent basis with flexible working options, including hybrid working as standard.
The Role
As a Senior Associate in this specialist health employment team, you will:
- Provide solution-focused, pragmatic employment advice to clients in the health sector.
- Work on a broad range of employment law issues, including TUPE, union-related matters, redundancy programmes, disciplinary investigations, and grievance procedures.
- Prepare and advise on contracts, policies, and procedures for clients in the health sector.
- Represent clients in employment tribunals, including preparation for hearings, drafting tribunal applications, witness statements, and conducting advocacy for case management and preliminary hearings.
- Handle complex TUPE matters, including academy transfers and restructuring projects.
- Undertake workplace investigations (not limited to the health sector).
- Contribute to business development through networking, writing thought-leadership pieces, delivering training and seminars, and other marketing initiatives.
- Support and mentor junior team members while collaborating closely with colleagues.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- 4+ years PQE with strong experience in contentious and non-contentious employment law.
- An interest in the health sector, with the ability to provide pragmatic, sector-aligned advice.
- A strong academic record and technical skills, with excellent attention to detail.
- Strong advocacy and report-writing skills, with a commercial and client-focused approach.
- Proven ability to manage client relationships, deliver exceptional service, and contribute to business development.
- A collaborative and team-focused mindset, with a commitment to diversity and inclusion.
