Planning Solicitor - NQ-10 PQE - Leading International Firm - Birmingham/flexible (excluding London)
BCL Legal is delighted to be representing a prestigious international law firm in their search for a highly motivated and ambitious Planning Associate Solicitor to join their renowned Planning & Environment, Energy & Infrastructure team. This is a rare opportunity to work on some of the most high-profile and complex planning projects in the UK.
The Role
As a Planning Solicitor, you will become part of the UK's largest dedicated planning team, working with some of the biggest names in the energy, infrastructure, and real estate sectors. The firm's diverse client base includes leading developers, funders, and investors involved in major national projects. In this role, you will:
· Advise on a wide range of high-profile energy and infrastructure developments, including offshore wind, large-scale solar, carbon capture, nuclear, and critical infrastructure such as water networks, airports, railways, and new roads.
· Work on high-value, nationally significant projects for prominent clients such as BP, EDF, Orsted, and National Highways.
· Provide expertise on key legislation, including the Planning Act 2008, Transport and Works Act 1992, and Town and Country Planning Act 1990, as well as matters of compulsory acquisition, EIA/HRA, and judicial reviews.
· Play a pivotal role in supporting the firm's public and private sector clients in obtaining planning consents for complex, high-stakes projects.
The Candidate
The ideal candidate will have 0-10 years' PQE in planning law, ideally gained within a leading regional or national law firm, or local authority. You will possess:
· Strong knowledge of planning law, including DCOs, compulsory purchase, environmental assessments, and planning inquiries.
· The ability to thrive in a team-oriented environment, with a focus on collaboration and client service.
· An enthusiasm for business development and building strong, long-term client relationships.
· Commercial awareness and a passion for handling the technical complexities of planning matters.
