Planning Partner - National Law firm - Birmingham BCL Legal is delighted to be assisting this national firm with a strategic need for planning partner. If you have a track record in planning work and are looking to join a firm in an exciting period of growth, this is a unique opportunity to lead an existing planning team across Birmingham and nationally. The firm: This large regional/national firm has a national client base and has grown considerably in recent years, hiring an excellent group of partners across commercial disciplines. Real estate is performing well, and the firm currently has a small planning team and a need to appoint an energetic and enthusiastic planning partner to lead the way in its growth. This is a huge opportunity for a planning partner to move into the Birmingham office and be provided with work from the outset and extremely solid foundations within planning to build upon further developing work with existing clients and bringing new revenue streams to the team. The firm has an excellent culture, developed on trust and collaborative working. The opportunity: As a Planning Partner at this firm you will join a group of partners with excellent clients and profiles in their respective markets, coupled with entrepreneurial spirit and good humour. You will have an opportunity not only to lead planning in Birmingham but play a key role in the Birmingham office and help grow and shape the office moving forward. Existing clients include developers, landowners, local authorities and banks. As well as managing the team, you would be involved in advising on every aspect of planning and highways law from negotiating planning or highways works agreements, compulsory purchase order advice, agricultural occupancy conditions, tackling legal issues that may be preventing development, like public rights of way, village green or asset of community value applications or designations such as tree preservation orders or conservation areas. You will also be involved where necessary in challenging unlawful planning decisions in court or assisting in defending against enforcement action. The ideal candidate: As this is a Planning Partner role, contacts and a track record of work winning is desirable however there is an existing caseload to inherit and therefore a very sensible expectation in terms of following, eagerness to grow and lead the team is more important. Salary will of course depend on the value you can bring to the team and firm.
