BCL Legal is pleased to be working with a market-leading law firm, seeking a Housing Corporate Governance Senior Lawyer to join its highly regarded Governance Team in Birmingham. This role offers hybrid working and flexible arrangements, making it ideal for experienced lawyers looking to make an impact in the not-for-profit and housing sectors.
The Role
As a Housing Corporate Governance Senior Lawyer, you will:
· Advise clients on governance arrangements, corporate structuring, and compliance with housing and third-sector regulations.
· Handle high-profile projects, including mergers, joint ventures, corporate restructuring, governance reviews, and regulatory investigations.
· Provide strategic legal advice to leadership teams, boards, and executives, ensuring alignment with clients' business goals.
· Work closely with other departments such as Funding, Property, Construction, and Employment to deliver comprehensive legal solutions.
· Support the management and development of the Governance Team, while actively contributing to business development initiatives, including writing articles, delivering training, and attending conferences.
· Lead client relationships with professionalism, integrity, and discretion, delivering projects independently and supervising junior team members.
About You
To be considered for this Housing Corporate Governance Senior Lawyer role, you will:
· Have strong experience in corporate governance and company law, ideally with knowledge of housing governance (though not essential).
· Be skilled in working with C-Suite Executives, Boards, and Leadership Teams on strategic and confidential matters.
· Demonstrate exemplary written and verbal communication skills, including public speaking and delivering training.
· Possess excellent project management and organisational skills, with the ability to manage complex client relationships.
· Show strong leadership capabilities, with experience in supervising and mentoring junior colleagues.
· Be a proactive business developer, skilled in using social media, attending conferences, and delivering client-facing presentations to raise your and the firm's profile.
